Hi Angie: Seems like either your firewall or router is blocking the FTP request, most likely the firewall. You will need to have a rule added that will allow FTP from the internet to the AS400's internal address. Keep in mind, this could open up the box to problems so be careful. If the location that is going to send to you is always the same, you may want to have the added security of only allowing certain IP address the ability to FTP to the AS400 from the internet. If your network security people object to the hold in the firewall, you may want to look at a VPN solution. Once to establish a VPN connection to your network, the PC will look to the network like it is physically connect to the local network and can access anything on the network as if you were in your office. cjg Carl J. I gives me an invalid parameter if I try and specify the port, but just the IP I have no problem pinging it. We do have a router and firewall and I was concerned that they may prevent me from getting through. But there should be some way around this with security isn't there. We have a citrix server which will probably be what the other division will be using to sign on and use the software to analyze the data all the divisions will be sending here. So they could send the data when they are connected on here but I was hopeing that they could set up a procedure to automatically update there data daily/weekly regardless of whether they are signing in to use it. -----Original Message----- From: Chuck Morehead [mailto:cbmorehead@nokuse.com] Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2002 8:59 AM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: Re: FTP from outside PC Angela, I believe that error is a timeout. Can you ping the FTP Server? You may have an issue with a firewall or router that is preventing you from reaching it from outside your local network.
