We are using Symbol PTC-960SL's. How do you tell them to use a particular device name? We think the name of the client is: TELXON AIRVU ps: Our screen size is configurable 21 col x 16 rows Rob Berendt -- "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." That did the trick. I simply added a works station entry for QINTER for SCAN* and set it for *ENTER. I left everything else alone, including QINTER's workstation type entry of *ALL. I reset the device 10 times, and every time it has come up in the SCANNER subsystem. Before it was 50/50 or so. I guess a Workstation entry with *ENTER is effectively an *OMIT for signon. To answer your question: we are using Symbol 6842 scanners which we got last May. Their screens look to be 21 characters across by 16 lines down. They seem to work well. Message: 13 From: "Dan Turkeltaub" <dturk@upt.com> jim, we also have scanners as 5250 devices and have an interactive subsystem for them. here's what to do... - add a workstation entry to subsystem qinter for workstation name SCAN*, with an allocation at *ENTER - add a workstation entry to subsystem scanner for workstation name SCAN* with an allocation at *SIGNON - remove any workstation entries you made refering to device type. this did the trick for us. which scanner are you using? we have intermec 2425's, but we're looking for an alternative that has a bigger screen. _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
