Real Fandom is still walking the Earth & has been since the 30's or 40's when
SF Condom started (PUN intended), if not before ... I am not sure when fan
clubs of authors started, & I know there were clubs of fans of HG Wells &
Jewels Vern, but I not know if the word Fandom then existed.
Almost every town in America, especially where there is a College or is big
enough to have a High School, has some kind of fan club & annual SF Con.
A lot of it has not yet learned how to use the Internet effectively so it has
a low on-line presence.
This may be because Fandom is affordable to the lowest of the economic
classes, and home computers are a middle class phenomena.

go to any search engine & look for Science Fiction Fandom

It has been a while since I been at any of the SF Fandom sites so some of my
links may no longer be any good.

New visitors to my office often comment on the science fiction art that
adorns my office ... mainly planets and star ships and clean humor ... at
home I have the less clean like the art called "a fishy story" in which
swimming beside a MerMaid is a Baby, with the head of a fish and the bottom
of a human & people ask me where they can get art like that & I direct them
to the regional Science Fiction Art Shows.
