Speculating about Joe's question, I don't think the first message from S/1 was stored, but rather discarded as invalid. The 400 probably ACKs the ENQ even though no program is running just in case the first message was a Program Start Request. Then when it finds out that it wasn't, it wants to end the session. Why it does this with ETX, I'm not sure. -Marty ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jeff Silberberg" <jsilberberg@mindspring.com> To: <midrange-l@midrange.com> Cc: <jleyden@co.la.ca.us> Subject: Re: Cmd to read from a comm LINE - pt to pt BSC Date: Wed, 28 Nov 2001 20:35:39 -0500 Organization: CompuDesigns, Inc. Reply-To: midrange-l@midrange.com Joe, Should be S/1 iSeries ENQ --> <-----ACK0 DATA ---> <----ACK1 EOT----> Then there is the IRS or ITB, and ETB or ETX, and a bunch of other things. First time I did this was 1974 (I think) with a SYSTEM 34. Did it with Series/1s and System 38s in the 80's, and I have done a few with AS/400s and Banks in the 90s. Be happy to try and help if you want... Have a Library on ??Tape?? around here somewhere with my Bysnc tools.. Do you have an SST Comtrace ?? Or you using something external like ComProbe ??
