I've been using Star Office for a couple of years. I like it. The new version is definitiely improved. Originally done in German, the early translations were awkward and some defaults verged on the bizarre, Hyphenations are essential in German, but in English they can be ignored, for example. The new version has most of that stuff worked out. Again, as others point out. my needs are simple. Invoicing, a few presentations, some HTML, my check book, that sort of thing, and it all works well and simply. I installed Star Office on my wife's machine and she prefers Star Office to Word Perfect. --------------------------------------------------------- Booth Martin http://www.MartinVT.com Booth@MartinVT.com --------------------------------------------------------- -------Original Message------- From: midrange-l@midrange.com Date: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 01:11:40 PM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: Re: Windows XP From: Chuck Morehead <cbmorehead@nokuse.com> > How about StarOffice from Sun? I read this to mean that it doesn't quite work with complicated documents. I have no specific examples though. Would also like to hear about actual experience with this. _______________________________________________
