Evan: Both TextPad and NoteTab have so much, it's hard to determine what's in one but not the other; it'd take weeks of usage for me to do it. After a few days, I've found a couple very nice TextPad features that I haven't seen in NoteTab: (1) syntax libraries and (2) file compare. For programmers, these are nice indeed. Keyboard macros also might be a little easier to create (record), but they don't seem as powerful as NoteTab. In NoteTab, I like the document templates feature, the way binary files are opened, the paste-board target document feature and the builtin support for HTMLTidy and HTML Validator (beyond the standard support for external functions); basic editing seems a bit more advanced in NoteTab too, with extras such as bullets and outline documents. And I prefer the range of clip libraries (e.g., numerous integrated utilities such as a bunch of conversions, a builtin scheduler, FTP support) and the clip library language. In fact, I can almost see how to get the TextPad syntax libraries to function through a NoteTab clip library, possibly the file comparator as well. At the least, I could probably get NoteTab to run the TextPad function externally. Of course, there may be additional downloadable libraries for TextPad that do as much or more than NoteTab. Unfortunately, I can't make a true comparison because of one more difference: NoteTab Light is all I have. NoteTab Standard and NoteTab Pro have more features than Light, but Light is complete freeware and that's all I've ever needed. There doesn't seem to be a freeware version of TextPad, only an evaluation version. Since you've paid for TextPad, maybe you could do the comparison from the opposite view?
