The generator, on the other hand, was a piece of hardware that's been in place since the late 50s. All I did was to make some engineering changes to the transfer control circuit, had Onan come in and service the generator so that it worked properly (it was cranking out 37Hz power--YUK!) The only trick to this is going to each piece of equipment that you want to protect and get its VA rating. The sum of these values will tell you the size of the UPS you need (at a minimum). Run-time is a function of the battery capacity you put on the UPS. Also, ensure that you don't put laser printers or photocopiers on your UPS unless you have it heavily oversized. The on/off cycle of the fuser will drive the UPS control circuitry nuts trying to calculate remaining run time! I'm sure that you could get some assistance with this whole project from either Best (who uses local dealers) or Onan (who also uses local dealers) Barry
