File System. As with the inet_addr() API, behavior of read(), write(), etc., is consistent with Unix, AFAIK; i.e., they do not propagate adopted authority. Perhaps the real problem is simply that we have not been given native OS/400 APIs as an alternative. ALL we got were Unix-like. While this makes porting much easier and more predictable, it does not give as much incentive to develop for OS/400 (IMHO). How difficult could it be to go that additional step?
