Tough job. The user profiles and specific authorities are the bitch. You could pump the user profiles out to a physical file by doing a RTVUSRPRF user by user and then calling an HLL program to write them to a physical file. You are toast for passwords. For specific authorities, you could do the following: DCLF QADSPOBJ DCL .... OVRDBF QADSPOBJ QTEMP/QADSPOBJ LOOP: DSPOBJAUT &ODLNBM/&ODOBNM &ODOBTP OUTPUT(*OUTFILE) OUTMBR(*N *ADD) MONMSG CPF0864 *N RETURN GOTO LOOP For the devices, do RTVCFGSRC for each device to a source file. When doing the restore, do the following steps in this order: 1). Rebuild the user profiles. You may or may not have issues as to who owns them. Specify that PASSWORD(*USRPRF) PWDEXP(*YES) 2). Rebuild the device descriptions. 3). Restore the world 4). Rebuild the private authorities Instruct users when they first sign on that they will have to change their passwords. It's not something I want to do but it has to be done. I can save the data libraries and folders to tape, specifying V4R2M0 as the target release and restore them without a problem. However, the RSTCFG and RSTSEC commands don't have that option. What's the best way to save and restore the configurations and user profiles? If necessary, I can change the password to a default one and set it to expired so the user has to change it when he first signs on. All suggestions are welcome.
