Hi Nelson - >Has anyone come up with a way to replace an "active" >service program in production (with a new version) >without getting pointer errors in the programs that >are currently using it? > >I'm looking for some method kinda like how the OS moves >existing programs to QRPLOBJ and other programs calling >them can still find them. That doesn't seem to work with >service programs. I've never had this kind of problem. And replaced service programs do go to QRPLOBJ. I have a PDM option to do the CRTSRVPGM command. The result looks like this: CRTSRVPGM SRVPGM(NVCUST/@_CFGSRV) MODULE(@_CFGSRV) TEXT('Configuration service program ') ACTGRP(*CALLER) OPTION(*DUPPROC *DUPVAR) DETAIL(*BASIC) REPLACE(*YES) The REPLACE(*YES) causes the old version to be put into QRPLOBJ, just as it does for regular programs.
