I gather the signal/noise ratio of my posts is decreasing. I'll finish a couple posts, and then I'm done posting for the foreseeable future. This is in no way related to your post, Portal. There have been more than enough "hints" that have said same, on-list and off. The reason I write is it is my feeble attempt to give back. The 38/400/i platform has allowed me to become semi-retired. I've learned from my work experience, and I relate the quality of that education to the design of the platform. Writing is not an attempt at ego-gratification, but rather, is a burden I feel. I'd much rather read (ie listen) and ponder things, rather than spend the time writing. The occasional replies to my posts have been very good, and very gratifying. Hardly worth it, though, from my POV. I gain a lot more by just lurking. So I'll find other ways to contribute to the Community. In spite of advice to the contrary, I'm going to write at least a couple letters to IBM. This is also in spite of the fact that IBM Legal has "asked" me, back on July 31, not to do so. Up until that time, they appeared to give serious attention to the things I sent them...! So the reason I'm going to do this, contrary to advice, is because IBM pays closer attention, and appears to have a far greater understanding, of the kinds of things I've written here. My experience with IBM executives directly contrasts the conventional wisdom I've read on this list: that IBM doesn't listen. Maybe that's the case with mid-level managers at IBM, I dunno... IMV however, this idea that IBM doesn't listen is patently false, based on my experience writing the top execs. jt > -----Original Message----- > From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com > [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Portal39@aol.com > Sent: Sunday, November 18, 2001 10:08 AM > To: midrange-l@midrange.com > Subject: Re: Early bird special for COMMON - COMMON Housing > > > -- > [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] > Affordability is the 1st rule.
