Tom, Another OUTSTANDING point. I'm sure that's it, plus I'm guessing almost all ISVs have ceded the low-end to OSS developers anyway. How can you compete when "free" is the low-end price...? Makes the REAL high end look especially attractive... I've recently posted my opinion, on ZDNet, of OSS primarily being made up of amateurs (http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2823588,00.html). (Was thinking about posting this earlier, in case people felt like doing some good-ole M$ bashing over in the PC universe...) Anyhoo, OSS will be starting to kill the competition in iSeries before too long. So I understand the problem trying to come up with a low-tech solution and low-ball price, in app development tools. My only hope is that maybe an i-centric solution (as opposed to producing app tools that fit any and all platforms) may be worth a few pennies... Appreciate the comments, as always... jt > -----Original Message----- > From: midrange-l-admin@midrange.com > [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of thomas@inorbit.com > Sent: Thursday, November 15, 2001 12:09 AM > To: midrange-l@midrange.com > Subject: RE: OO benefits?
