>I'm trying to create a BSC line to talk to an old IBM Series/1 using a single line BSC card. I'm not As400 expert BUT does someone have a short (working) program to receive data from the BSC line on the AS400? SO I can use *PGM instead of *RJE which I cant get to make the LINE,CTL,DEV stay active. Help greatly appreciated My plan B. Joe< Joe, that really is old! Not only are you going to need an appl on the 400 but also one on the S/1. You don't say what prog you have on the S/1? There are many flavors of "BSC". The IBM program is for BSC-MSRJE (expensive too) which is a more complex protocol and unlikely you have that on the S/1. It is more likely you may have a BSC-3780 program which is "simple" RJE. For this you need to write an ICF BSC program (as Marty pointed out). This is not a hard program to write but *if* you don't know ICF programming and/or the precise BSC exchanges the other end expects, and be able to read a BSC line trace, it will become difficult (you imply you are not too AS400 savvy) I seem to recall that there were AS/400 BSC 3780 programs available from third parties (many EDI providers used 3780). This may be your best bet and someone on the list may know who sells them. Alternatively, someone on the list may have written one in-house and can supply you a copy. Of course all this assumes you have a S/1 BSC 3780 program. Finally, you might want to consider a different approach (i.e. a three step seq via a PC??) _______________________________________________________________ Regards, Rod Orr
