Joe, I think you are on the right track now. You need some kind of an application to make the 400 talk on that line. Just because you say *RJE does not mean there is anything to talk RJE protocol on that line. OS/400 does not inherently know how to do RJE. You need to have the Communication Utilities LICPGM installed or some other program that emulates an RJE device. For writing your own program, I recommend you look at the BSC Equivalence Link programming manual and the ICF programming manuals. Between them you should be able to come up with what you need. These should all be available in the online softcopy library, but you probably should look in the V3R2 section first, as coverage of these topics has been neglected in later versions of Info Center. http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/pubs/html/as400/online/v3r2eng.htm Also, on that modem eliminator, I agree with Neil that you want to configure a leased line. It sounds like you have that already because your line stays active. But the reason the controller and device don't is because there is no application to communicate over them. -Marty --__--__-- From: jleyden@co.la.ca.us To: <midrange-l@midrange.com> Subject: RE: BSC line read program - Plan B Date: Wed, 14 Nov 2001 00:47:39 -0000 Reply-To: midrange-l@midrange.com I'm trying to create a BSC line to talk to an old IBM Series/1 using a single line BSC card. I'm not As400 expert BUT does someone have a short (working) program to receive data from the BSC line on the AS400? SO I can use *PGM instead of *RJE which I cant get to make the LINE,CTL,DEV stay active. Help greatly appreciated My plan B. Joe
