The green screen will not die as long as there are enough companies willing
to do a cost/value comparison between it and other machines before buying.

As much as I advocate the use of new programming tools, languages, and
techniques, it is not because I feel that the green screen is unproductive
in its realm.

There are many tasks that can be done using GUI which the crisp, clean 5250
direct access does better and faster. But I don't think this is the growth
area for the iSeries. I think that the greatest amount of market growth has
been in giving new, untrained users access to information. These users may
be customers or trading partners or even employees who need occaisional
access to some facilities. These are areas where the GUI can be handier
than green screen.
