Leif, The fact that this field shows on DSPSYSSTS/WRKSYSSTS indicates to me that they are considering this. I don't know if this was an intentional slip, or just another "V5R1 oops!" thing. Clearly they have done, and continue to do things that are stupider. With regard to the wisdom of the CFINT tax, this has been strategic to IBM's pricing philosophies. Had IBM not done this, hefty CPUs would be much more expensive today. IBM doesn't like it, but the AS/400 is by far the most cost effective solution for interactive programming (this means green screen) in the world. Some of my clients believe that it is 7 to 10 times more cost effective as any other platform! I don't think we disagree. I was actually thinking about a 'CFINT'-like 'DBUSE'. Maybe we'll see a FASTDB400... IBM was stupid enough to come out with CFINT, so why not a DBUSE as you suggest?. _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
