You're right, it doesn't make a difference. In either case the non-delivery should be delivered to 1) the user that sent the message (From:) and 2) The administrator of Exchange _if_ they've enabled NDAs to be sent to themselves. Of course the entire existence of NDA is predicated on the assumption that the remote site will bounce the message and not simply move it into /dev/nul -Walden ------------ Walden H Leverich III President Tech Software (516)627-3800 x11 WaldenL@TechSoftInc.com http://www.TechSoftInc.com -----Original Message----- From: Norbut, Jim [mailto:Jim.Norbut@Grubb-Ellis.com] Sent: Thursday, November 01, 2001 6:55 PM To: 'midrange-l@midrange.com' Subject: RE: AS/400 using Microsoft exchange as e-mailer (e-mail question) 5.5 sorry...but I am sure it doesn't make a difference anyway. I must have been thinking Internet Explorer when I wrote this. -----Original Message----- From: Walden H. That user should get the bounce messages. -Walden PS. (FREE PLUG FOR YOU BRADLEY <grin>....I know your lurking in here somewhere) and we use it every day to send reports created in our Lawson application to the persons e-mail address. Basically we create an *outq for each user and input the person's e-mail into the "text description field". Then we wrote a custom little CL to take that e-mail address And pass the spoolfile name/number/etc.....to bradley's utility program. The AS/400 then sends the e-mail via our exchange server (6.0 I believe) To the recipient. Here's the rub (and brad will know right away probably). If we have an incorrect address how will I know that it's invalid. Will there be an entry in a log somewhere on the AS/400 ? Or will it be in a log on the exchange server somewhere when it "bounces back" saying it's invalid.
