Re: Model 270 VS 250

The 250 being a follow on to the 150 is marketed as a one shot deal
on hardware and software. I assume this is still the "plan" on these
machines. The 250 is "very" limited on hardware upgrades where the
270 can go VERY large with no sweat. The 250 "probably" requires a
purchase on any software upgrade. The 270 can be covered on the new
software protection plan. The 250 tops out pretty quick on raw
horsepower, while the 270 has any number of model steps. The 250 is
not affected by CFINT as the 270 is affected. You buy all your CPW's
up front. Per the Sales Manual, there are really only two models of
the 250.

For smaller shops, the 250 is really an ideal box.

I think a lot of people forget that the largest number of installed
400's are the small boxes. The 270 being a follow on to the 170, fills
the rest of the installed base pretty well. The 7XX boxes fill out a
fairly small percentage of the total installed installed base.
