But that would still involve redoing the way out size codes are.  ie.  AA =
1 X 1   A1 = 3 X 3  so even though it sorts by ascii if we were to force
that then it will not look correct    showing the 3 X 3 first so we would
need to change what shows on each.   So no matter what it will be a change
on our codes.

Hi Angela,

On the AS400 you could simply create a logical file the ALTSEQ(QSYS/QASCII)
file-level keyword and all your key fields will be sorted as if they were
ASCII encoded.  Then your sales department can still use 0-9 or even
lowercase a-z in their sort field and it will sort the same as the SQL
server.
