For business reasons connected with recent company history a technically sound ERP system using an Oracle database (if that's not a contradiction in terms) is being discontinued. Our ERP of choice is now J.D. Edwards World. However, we still have a need to access historical data that currently resides in the Oracle database. To continue to use the legacy ERP system would mean spending a huge amount on licenses. What we wish to do therefore is to create a ring-fenced JDE environment to hold the historical data so that our users can access it through the interface they are familiar with. Effectively this is a conversion to JDE from another ERP. A good starting point would be to have the existing database sitting on an AS/400. If this is not possible we will be dependent on another group within the company to supply us with extract files on request with all the delays and other complications that involves, as well as having no direct visibility of the source data.
