For performing load balancing on incoming connection you will need an
external box. IBM has a product called Director. For outbound load
balancing you setup a Virtual IP. This enables the AS400 to choose the best
path to send out the response. There is also something can a Schowler Route
which does outbound load balancing.

Subject: Web Server / System Performance / Load Balancing

We have an 820 with a 2436 processor. My question is this:

We have 2 GigE connections from our iSeries to our internal network.
Would we get better performance running the same web server
configuration on both GigE cards and split the load between the 2 cards,
or would we be better to only run the web server on 1 of the GigE cards
and have everyone use the same server?

I'm also looking for recommendations for some sort of box to do load
balancing.
