Two possibilities: 1/ Use shorter tapes
2/ Save less stuff

Serious answer: Use the CHKTAP CL command and receive the message it
sends. The message is CPC6778 and is sent as a completion message --
presuming there is a tape loaded. The tape ID is in position 11 of the
substitution data.
