Hi Joel, Is it faster from the PC because you've zipped it up first? How much does zipping compress the file? 50% or more? So it takes twice as long from the 400 as from the PC? If that's the case, try using the jar program on the 400 to compress it into the IFS, for example: qsh jar cvf /home/pdow/test.jar /qsys.lib/pdows.lib/source.file/addvlle.mbr adding: qsys.lib/pdows.lib/source.file/addvlle.mbr (in=1900) (out=336) (deflated 82%) Then FTP it from the IFS. hth, Peter Dow Dow Software Services, Inc. 909 425-0194 voice 909 425-0196 fax ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joel Fritz" <JFritz@sharperimage.com> To: "MIDRANGE-L@midrange. com (E-mail)" <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2001 8:31 AM Subject: ftp to the ifs from a database file > This week I was filling in for a co-worker who's on vacation.
