Um, yeah.  I thought I was trying to figure out if SAVCHGOBJ worked with
this application technique, not pointing out a flaw in the OS.

The considerations go beyond multi-membered files.  It's been brought up on
another thread -- any application that creates and deletes objects (work
files, work file members, control data areas) as data or markers will
probably need a different save/recovery strategy than SAVCHGOBJ.  Even if my
application in question did not use multi-member files the job control data
areas to save the LDA and job step information would create a mess in a
SAVCHGOBJ recovery.
