We had this with a service pack installation for Client Access, don't remember the exact number right now, but what Nate describes is called a reverse DNS lookup to get the name of the connecting client for its ip number. We had a twelve (12 !) minute delay when connecting the first session to the system. They turned it off again in the next service pack of client access. Could be caused be some routing problen in your network, too. The more functions you have, the more sensible is your software, so misconfigured LANs become an issue. Recommendation: use the newest service pack of Client Access and double check your ip-routes (tracert to AS/400), route print on NT.
