alan, > Why has a User Profile the ability to sign onto the system more than once? > Surely, the user can only work on one session at a time. If so, why not limit >the number of sessions to 1 per User. What advantage would there be to having >more than 1 session per user? The advantages are numerous. When I watch users try to deal with a single session I go crazy. They get into one thing, then out to check something, then out of that, back into thing one, out again to check something else - all the while writing notes about what they are looking up. Perhaps you have had the pleasure of working with a system that is completely linked from every program to every program but I've not seen it. (I've done this with inquiries but not update/maintainance/entry programs) Take customer service for example. A rep may not be completely done with the previous call before the phone rings again. Or the boss calls asking about this or that while you're entering an order. I am a firm believer in 2 or 3 sessions as a starting point with more if the user can demonstrate how to properly utilize them. Personally when I used to code a lot, 5 was a minimum and 10 was average! - Larry +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
