Just because a company would not continue to be in business if it couldn't
operate at a profit doesn't mean it is motivated by greed. People do have a
choice about what to do for a living.

An MIS consultant who offers whatever product the make the most on might be
motivated by greed. One who sells/provides what they feel are the best
solutions they feel are the best for their customers may have a different
motivation.

I think where corporations get the "total greed" image is that when a
particular method of being in business is no longer profitable in a market
sector, the business management that is motivated to do business like that
tends to move on. The people who move in are those who see ways to become
profitable in the existing market. Sometimes, that means that the upper
management which believes in providing the best products at the best prices
are replaced by those who know how to rape the market.

That doesn't mean all companies just want to rape the market. Nor even that
all companies which end up in the hands of unethical managers started out
that way.

If you believe that the best technology wins the
marketplace, you haven't been paying attention.
