I have readily stated in the past that there ARE good ones. SO, then, why dont' you GOOD ONES establish some sort of self-policing mechanism such that a end user can have some forum to redress issues? IBM doesn't care...just as long as the hardware works...and someone is selling their hardware. Go back and read my Third State of the Midrange at http://www.wash-midrange.org/. Since this went out LAST YEAR, I have lost count of how **MANY** people have come up to me personally and told me just how CORRECT my comments were! Do you realize, you're the FIRST person publicly or privately that has challenged that? Right now, the scale as a function of public and private comments made to me is your one vote versus ALOT! Yes, I personally know, deal with and refer clients to BP's all the time. But they're ones that I know and have established some form of credibility with me. Further, Ask yourself folks, How many times in the past have you heard a company or user say "Oh, that Vaporware Systems software really sucks. I can't get my invoices out, in inventory is a mess, it's down more than it's up...." HECK NO! They tend to say "That AS/400 is a mess, I can't get my order out......." What this means is that Rochester and Toronto have been taking in on the chin (and up other parts) for problems that aren't theres! And, I would submit that this has further degraded the perception and market presence of a very fine system! The AS400 is NOT a PC...if a windoze product craps out, it's just a single node (unless your the server....:), if the 400 craps out is you're whole company! But then, perhaps it's time to learn Oracle, NT and Unix...at least I see jobs for those skills...and people know what they are...because those companies have a marketing presence and product brand recognition....
