Users expect upgrades to be transparent, painless, and somehow better. But if you can convince them everything has to be different, especially paired with some good excuse like saving the company money so that more jobs can be preserved, then you get to start with fresh expectations. It is not fair, reasonable, or even logical, but part of the way humans work... The other problem with upgrades, especially if you manage to do them transparently and painlessly, is that many users won't believe you actually did anything, so you rarely get thanks. Maybe that's why so many iSeries IT people are viewed as dull and boring and nonproductive??? Those NT people are always out in the limelight dealing with visible problems, so they get to be heros a LOT more often!!!
