I used to have the "can't stop progress; what's wrong with HTML" perspective
as well but I now see, and agree with, the other side.

Because it is easier to read. Some people use annoying fonts and italics,
not to mention colors, any pasted code is all messed up, and it is much
smaller.  Not just for bandwidth but for storage.  I usually get around to
deleting e-mails but I don't do it for everyone as soon as I've read it.

So when I get an email from the list, and it's in HTML, I convert it to text
(if I'm going to reply to it).

PS: For those of you who do receive e-mail in digest mode, please change the
subject from Digest Mode to whatever the subject is supposed to be.
