Neil, Maybe I read too much in between the lines...:-) Who in your mind is "mother"...? "Mother" could be interpreted as Ms. Kimberly S. Stevenson, who is the "Executive in charge" of the iNation. I hope that's not who you mean, because I've found Ms. Stevenson to be extremely enlightened in her approach to the iNation. Now, I'll grant that Ms. Stevenson has probably NEVER written even a single line of code on a 38/400/i, so her appreciation of the iSeries may be somewhat abstract. That doesn't necessarily mean she doesn't apprecieate it _just as much as_ we do. "Mother" could also be interpreted to mean the Server Group, or as some may think them, "The Overlords". I would hope you don't mean that, as the Server Group approved the iNation and allowed Mr. Haines' to pursue this dream in the first place. No matter what the reference meant, maybe the iSeries Community should just take things at their face value. From Chuck's post, it seems that Mr. Haines is pursuing a new dream. Who would deny him that opportunity...? I'm sure Mr. Haines necessarily has butted a few heads in his career, but why assume he's being run off by those who didn't always agree with him, rather than take a positive slant on the situation...? I can't imagine he would have stuck with the iNation concept, this long, if he hadn't met some with both approval and disapproval, along the way... jJt -----Original Message----- From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Neil Palmer Sent: Thursday, July 19, 2001 2:45 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Malcolm Haines resigns from IBM (Elvis) For those who didn't get the "Elvis" reference, there it is in plain English. If Frank Soltis is considered the "father" of the AS/400 (S/38 - iSeries) then I guess Malcolm was like a "step-father" who always wanted the best of everything for the "child" (AS/400) but often found himself running against the wishes of the "mother" (Irene Beatrice McCorporation). :-) +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
