  • Subject: RE: QSYSOPR message queue segregation

I am at the point of having to go down the route that I was hoping to avoid.
I use Robot Console for auto answering known errors, such as increasing file
sizes, and such like. Also Robot Alert for SMS and email notification of
critical errors and messages still needing a reply.

It would mean every message going to qsysopr would be tested for a match and
forwarded based upon rules. (Al, this product and others like it must be
considered message handling programs, in a wider sense).

If anyone is asked by IBM what would be a really useful, easy enhancement to
OS/400. Surely this must be it!

Thanks all for your assistance, Obviously if I obtain a true, tested
solution to the problem I will post it here.

Kind Regards Michael

It used to say in the documentation to never hang a message handling
program over QSYSOPR. Does anyone know if this recommendation had changed?

Michael,

You could put the qsysopr msgq in *break mode and specify a break handling
pgm to run every time a msg arrives in the queue. Your bhp can then send
the received msg to the queue of your choice depending on say the msgid.

To segregate depending on the prod or test env, maybe the job name and user
of the msg sending job is available.

hth,
Steve Richter
