Mark,

Here is another way that was posted on IGNITe/400 back on 7/8 under the thread "More Info Center Rants"

John,

I'm not sure where your problem is in searching manuals. With the HTML manuals, there is an
icon at the top of each page (look for a flashlight) for searching that manual. There is also a
place where you can list all of the manuals and search all of them for your phrase.

For PDF files, Adobe Acrobat gives you a search (look for the binoculars).

As far as IBM's search engine is concerned, I've given up. I use Google
( http://www.google.com ). Simply enter your search criteria and then "site:ibm.com". This tells
Google to only return results from IBM. You'll be amazed at how well that Google has IBM's site
indexed.

That was from  bruce-list@netburg.net (Bruce Hobbs, Netburg Internet Services) and I had never tried Google for anything like this. You need to click on Advanced Search to specify the domain(s) to search.

It is REALLY slick !

Rant mode on,

The AS400 Info Center SUCKS with a capital SUCKS!!!! Where the HELL are the
books? All I want is the System API Reference in a somewhat printable form.
I'm tired of spending hours looking for information that used to be at my
fingertips. I'm about ready to bail  from IBM  platforms and do something
else. Everytime they "enhance" something, it becomes 10x more complicated.

I have the MSDN Library. You get all of the docs on one DVD complete with
an intuitive interface and it automatically binds itself with the help
system in their development products. How many threads have been started on
these very lists about CODE or VARPG help not working.
Come on IBM, swallow your pride and take a look at how MS is doing things.
They are getting it right.
