Joe/Nathan/All,

I set up a site http://iaic.weblogger.com/ that can be used to discuss this
OSS project, or anything else related to the iNation. This is a temporary
address, until a permanent one is set up, probably shortly.

This is not a complete site, by any means, but is one that can be built off
of pretty easily. We can at least have quick correspondence, and a
permanent archive of the conversations. They are organized by thread (or
date).

I consider everything on the site as throw-away code, because it doesn't run
on a 400. But if the thing goes forward, a lot of it could probably be
salvaged.

Just FYI, this site is a knock-off of a site that was put up shortly before
the iNation was announced. A group of myself and 6 others from the AAG were
thinking about how a small group could make a difference. We'd pretty much
agreed that a small, organized group could have an positive effect on how
the media presents the iSeries to the public. Just as things were starting
to gel, the iNation was announced and things fell apart (primarily due to my
over-involvement). I hope this new venture has more success than that one!

Although, now that the members of the iNation Freedom Council have been
posted, I see that the majority of the people in this "Group of 7" are now
on the Freedom Council! Maybe if I haven't scared them off, from by that
other experience, they'll come visit this new site.

I believe anyone can look at the new site, but you need to sign up as a
member, to be able to write to the Discussion Group. That's a built-in
feature of this utility I used, or I probably wouldn't have messed with it.
Hope you all do that, and provide some feedback!

I'm thinking this site can be used for other things besides this OSS
project. In fact, I'm working on a piece that's about the iNation in
general. I might post it later, and I'm thinking about posting the letters
I wrote Mr. Zietler last fall... I don't know. Might wait and see...

One last thing, the site is real plain for a number of reasons. But one
reason is that I put in a feature so you can select the text and background
colors you desire. I remember a long thread here, a while back, on how some
prefer the green-screen look and others prefer the standard paper-white
look. So take your pick! You can switch by pressing the "Profile/Colors"
link on the left.

Joe, Nathan

As I mentioned in a post I just sent in on Don's new iSeries Nation site,
I'm considering expanding the scope of this project to include more than
just a forum for discussing OSS development. Have to wait and see on that
one.

Not so much because of that, but mainly because I didn't do a lick of work
on setting up the site Saturday or Sunday, I'm setting a new target date of
July 4, 2001. Just seems like a good date, to begin something new...!

Hopefully I'll do better on that date, but since I still have work to do
(for a paying client...:) that I was supposed to have done yesterday, we'll
see. I'll keep you posted.

Apologies...:(

<<>> My schedule is pretty much cleared, I hope to get back to you with a
web address, hopefully yet today.

Ahhh... The devil is always in the details. I'd set up one of these a few
months ago, but forgotten a lot of it. (Been f*arting around some, too.)
So looks like tomorrow at best...:(
