I kid around a lot... Sometimes maybe too much. I thought I should clarify this post in case Don, or others, thought I was just jerking his chain. When I left the AAG my wife and I offered to donate $1000 to the cause. I, along with others, thought that the group could benefit by forming a legal entity that would be able to collect tax-deductible contributions. (Mr. Madden had talked about trying to put together a donation of ad space, if it could be tax-deductible.) I also thought this might provide the group with a start towards building some organizational structure. And maybe help David upgrade his listserv to a 400 running Stalker, like IGNITe does, to provide near-realtime delivery. So I'm offering this donation, since that one was never claimed, and I believe these things are just as important today, as it was then. (And that's not just because I've been banned from the IGNITe lists.) So even though Don and I have had our differences, I am completely serious about offering this donation. Our company would offer $500 dollars, if it was tax-deductible. I say only $500, because I think Don is overlooking the point I made earlier in quoting John Meyers: "I feel that we have a shared interest with IBM in seeing it happen ... neither we nor IBM can do it alone." But _any_ grassroots effort is a huge step forward. I'll save the remaining $500 in case others spring up, or the iNation itself turns into a grassroots effort. Now, $500 isn't a lot by some standards, but is a whole lot by others. It's a lot to me and my wife because, even though I'm President of The Ohio Computer System Co, that company is just the two of us. She's working on an MBA now, and I'm f*rting around with this stuff. So this money means a lot more to us now, than it did when we first offered it, and it was a pretty big deal to us back then. All that to say, I'm dead serious about this offer. And only do it because I really hope Don gets something started. jt -----Original Message----- From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of jt Sent: Monday, June 25, 2001 8:40 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: REAL GRASSROOTS iSeries Nation (was RE: OS/4I ) Don wrote: "Why do you think the REAL GRASSROOTS iSeries Nation Phoenix is getting ready to rise from the ashes of 'IBM as usual'????" Don, what is the address of this REAL GRASSROOTS iSeries Nation. I'd like to send them a donation, if it's tax-deductible. Thanks. jt -----Original Message----- From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Don Sent: Monday, June 25, 2001 7:48 PM To: 'MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com' Subject: RE: OS/4I Uh, no comment at this time......
