Yes, but which default user profile? Quser? This is already set to *wrkstn. -----Original Message----- From: Jim Langston [mailto:jimlangston@conexfreight.com] Sent: Thursday, June 21, 2001 3:27 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: Default printer What I've always done, and seen done on other systems, is to change the device for the default user for the user profiles. My Printer Device in my user profile is CARTCNX, and my output queue is QGPL/QPRINT2 (which is an output queue not directed to any printer). My spool files wind up in the output queue QPRINT2. Specifying an output queue but leaving the printer to *WRKSTN doesn't seem to do much, but print it to the workstation printer anyway. So I had to give it some device description, which it doesn't use anyway *shrug* Regards, Jim Langston Date: Thu, 21 Jun 2001 13:42:07 -0500 From: "Condon, Mike, /m1c" <m1c@ingersoll-imc.com> Subject: Default printer I have some applications that are causing problems printing. We really only have one true "printer" (an autocreated PRT01) on our system. All other printing is done by remote outq to HP Jetdirect printers. The problem is some programs (3rd party) are printing to this printer by default, although the user profiles are all set up with PRTDEV *WRKSTN, and their print queues are set up just fine. Is there any way around this? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
