We have always had that problem too, I have not seen an answer to your question, might I suggest an alternative to CA, use FTP, it is faster, you can code it to run automatically, and since you are e-mailing this, you can even let the AS/400 do that for you too, (of course this is provided everything is set-up to allow this.) It looks like Client Access adds a rcd to the end of the file with a X'3F' in the first position. I'm assuming this looks like an end-of-file marker. I zipped and password protected the file and sent it as an email attachment. When the gentleman on the other end unzips the file, the end-of-file marker is showing up as the last rcd in the file. But the last rcd in the file should be the actual rcd, which in this case is a trailer rcd with totals for an EDI-like application. Is there any way in Client Access to not wirte this end-of-file marker? One suggestion I rcvd here is to open the file in WordPad and delete the end-of-file marker. The file has 509.350 rcds and my PC locks up when I try to open the file with WordPad. Does anyone know of any file editor or text editor that I can use to edit a large file? Any help would be appreciated.
