>Hello Rick, >I assume you are printing to some kind of HP PCL compatible Laser Printer. >So why not producing PCL-code for this kind of device and send it directly >from your application to that printer without further transformation ? >There has been a great source and discussion for this on (thanks again, Pete) >http://www.execpc.com/~pbhall/formoverlay.html Thanks for the pointer, and you are right - using an HP4000N. I shall definitely look into it. I have come around to a change in my thinking (or what passes for it). Just how hard would it be to go straight from data and images to a pdf? From what I hear, pretty tough. But - what might it be worth to have? It occurs to me, that over time, e-mail is going to be more in demand than printing, and it might behoove me to cooperate by heading toward a pdf solution. Only problem is - I can't find one for my primary platform. I guess I'll spend the weekend looking into pdf formats. If my head gets too hot I can always go jump in the pool! >Regards from germany, Philipp Rusch Thanks a lot Phil - If I can figure it out, it looks like your solution might be an improvement over the hpt.
