Scott, We hook up our HP's using token ring or ethernet and little boxes called Lexmark Marknet devices. At least the printer in our area is. I think it supports the Host Print Transform and all that rot. This way you can still use it as a PC printer with zero load on the 400, while also printing your 400 items on it. We don't have any twinax devices outside of the computer room. I would find it really hard to have a valid business case to find a twinax device to hook up these printers. Perhaps if the building you worked in was in the National Historic Register and you had twinax strung throughout but to get lan cable would take too much paperwork. The printer does not accept JetDirect cards, and only has a parallel port. I'd like to be able to use Host Print Transform to convert things like fonts, barcodes, overlays, etc to the PCL language, and send it to the printer. I do NOT want to have to use a PC to act as an interface for the printer. I know there are many different twinax to parallel adapters out there. But will any of them allow me to do Host Print Transform? Has anyone had good experiences with a product that will meet my requirements?
