First you need to set the system value for the UPS message queue.  Then you must have this message queue allocated.  I have a short program that monitors the UPS message queue, which I called UPSMONITOR.  This program check for the appropriate messages and performs a controlled power down after so much time has elapsed.  I can send you a link if you would like tomorrow.  You can e-mail me privately or on list.
