Hi Mark, I use VAJ for my work, but it's the only Java IDE that I've used, so I won't try to make any comparisons. What I can do is share a few of my likes/dislikes. What I like about it: -------------------- - code repository is *the* way to manage source. - incremental compiles save me a whole bunch of time - it keeps track of unresolved problems (compile errors) automatically - built in version control. - built in websphere environment for testing - visual debugger - professional version is included with WDT/400 What I don't like: ------------------ - it's always lagging behind the current JDK level - the visual composition editor (GUI tool) is a waste of disk space. - needs a real fast processor and gobs of memory - enterprise edition is very expensive Overall, I think it's an excellent development tool. My biggest complaint is the time it takes them to support a new JDK version.
