David, I agree Microsoft takes a bunch of flak on this board as does IBM and it tends to be an IBM board. I personally don't believe there are any good guys or bad guys in this debate. However, I wonder what your speed comparison between the compaq and the 400 would be like in a real life situation with multiple TCPIP workstation connections. Meaning when more than one person is trying to connect and or access data from your Compaq or AS400. I don't know that it will make a difference but it is a thought. After all the real strength in the AS400 architecture is its ability to handle more than one task. You may argue that NT does this as well but It would hard to convince me that it does so based on the platform comparisons you have described. All horse dung aside have a good one!
