This is good that they gave us this for V5R1. What is bad, is that it will not be supported in future releases (past V5R2). Seems like the same issue of OS "breaking" programs, just at a later time. O.K. that they are giving us 2 releases to "fix" the "problem" (which they create), but then it is back to the arguments of legacy, no source code, no support, ect... Personally, I think that the switch should be supported in all future releases and to prevent problems of new software from vendors forcing the use of longer library lists. I would vote for it being controlled at the job level so that both old and new software can be run on the same box. Hopefully, they will change their mind about dropping support for the switch before they get beyond V5R2.
