We are using Arch in Northeast Indiana. One feature that I like is the ability to send email from my 400 to the pager using SNDEMAIL. For example if your pager number was 219-555-1212 you could send an email to 2195551212@epage.arch.com. Granted, there are times when you need to get paged when email won't work (think disk threshold). There was a paging software company that I used to like, called Page Alert. They sold out to LXI and service tanked - they blame everything on Arch now. (If your dissatisfied with Arch you might tend to agree). There is another paging software company called Byteware that I've heard a lot of good comments about. I agree that the people at Robot must s%$& gold. PS I think I performed a DOS attack on Arch some time ago. Had a looping program send out too many, far too many, pages. (I turned my pager off for 3 days). I tried to tell them I DOSed them. However they didn't agree because 'nobody can get pages now'. Rob Berendt ================== A smart person learns from their mistakes, but a wise person learns from OTHER peoples mistakes. We are not very satisfied with our current pager company (Arch) and are looking for a replacement. I am looking for some feed back regarding companies serving the Northeast Ohio area. Good experiences? Bad experiences? A company whom you would or wouldn't refer? Also, is there anyone who is doing in-house paging from their AS400 possibly using RPG/ICF file as opposed to utilizing an external software product like Robot? We currently use an RPG program to page our programmer on call. It is very basic and only dials the pager number and upon making a connection a "tone only" page is sent to the pager (analog, not digital). We would like to refine this to send a numeric page to the pager (digital). If this is a little too off topic, you may respond to me privately.
