There are a couple of places I suggest you look, mainly in the CA emulation support on the PC since there are several 3rd party outfits sometimes installed various places. The window of AS/400 that shows up on the PC screen. You need to make sure that it has all 25 lines, so that when the interactive program sends a message to the very bottom of the 400 screen, it is in fact seen by the person running this from CA. The settings on the PC should be such that the user can in fact get to the Sys Tray & knows how to get to the Sys Tray if it is hidden. Sometimes PCs are setup so they are right for an experienced user, then a less experienced person is saddled with using it. On twinax, when a message is sent to a user, it does not matter if the user is on a different session of a multi-session work station, there is an indication on bottom of screen saying that a message is active & it is coded as to whether the message is for this session or for some other session. This message arrival is also audible, but that only works if I am physically at my work station when it arrives. I guess what I would like in the state of art, is something on the Sys Tray that indicates ... a message is waiting for you in a particular application, and how many of a particular kind of application is currently open ... we would ask users to get the last number down to zero before they power off their work station.
