My apologies for posting a Domino problem on the
midrange list, but I felt someone must of had a similar problem...
Our Domino mail server is being over-run with bogus
email addresses (over 400 in less than 1 hour), apparently by a spammer
attempting to use it to relay email. We searched the Domino site which
had the following solution...
Solution:
To do this, set the following parameters on the Server Configuration document:
2. Select the Router/SMTP tab, and the Restrictions and Controls tab. 3. Then select the SMTP Inbound Controls tab, and under the Inbound Relay Controls section, set the following values:
Deny messages from external internet domains to be sent to the following internet domains: * Allow messages only from the following external internet hosts to be sent to external internet domains: <blank> Deny messages from the following external internet hosts to be sent to external internet domains: * However, when we made this setting, the administrator account was the
only account able to send out email, so temporarily we have had to remove the
recommended fix, and are continuing to be bombarded with spam. Has anyone
experienced this and found a remedy? Any help would be appreciated.
TIA,
Kenny Breeding
