This is an interesting comment on IBM's sucess with Code/400. It has
been 
around for SEVERAL years and still remains a mystery to the folks in the
400 world. I guess they gave up marketing it, and said "Hey ... let's
give
it away" which will undoubtly increase the awareness of the product. I 
recall the early versions as being a tad "quirky" to use.....

In fairness to IBM, I have to confess that I have never seen a 
working version anywhere, so I can't really give a report on it's
greatness or lack there of. I suspect, there is more to this "free"
deal than meets the eye.
