  • Subject: CA v. CAE [was RE: Client Access Express Printers?]
  • From: mandy.shaw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I know one important difference relating to ODBC. On CA multi-threaded use
of ODBC is not supported, but on CAE it is. One of our customers with a
Domino Web app running on NT, and integrated with AS/400 via CA ODBC, only
discovered this when his Web site went live, started picking up respectable
numbers of hits, and crashed over and over again for a week ... Installing
CAE fixed it instantly.

The more people who are aware of this issue the better, which is why I'm
posting it here, the subject having (sort of) arisen.

Mandy

Most of use the regular Client Access. One person has Win2000 and since
Express is supposed to work better that is what was initially installed.
But
now that person has regular installed so it is not a major issue. I thought
is was neat to know that so we could use CAE if we wanted to...

By the way, what is the big deal about CAE anyway? Besides compatibility
with the newer OSes.

Are there some with CAE that can see the IFS and some that can't?

There could be many reasons why you can't see the IFS, but Netserver has
nothing to do with them.

I assume you can see the AS/400 in Network neighborhood? When you click,
do
you get anything? Maybe just printers?
