  • Subject: LAN Attach Printer Stops during backup

During our backups, I have always allowed QSPL to remain active, thereby
allowing any long print jobs to continue. This works just fine with
twinax attached printers.

Now, however, we have a couple of LAN attached (IP protocol) printers.
Those stop when the backup is run. I assume this is because I stop such
things as QSERVER and end TCP/IP.

What are the rest of you 'ending' before you do backups? I end the
following:

Hold all job queues
End autostart jobs
End TCP/IP and host servers
End Fax support
End QINTER subsystem
End QBATCH subsystem
End QSERVER subsystem

I restart them after the backup is complete. If after hours (which is
when all normal backups) the only users would be green screen users. If
that is the case, would I really need to end TCP/IP? Host servers?
QSERVER? As always, the paramount thing is a _good_ backup.
