As long as you have Query Manager (the existance of STRQMQRY & CRTQMQRY commands should show that) you can use the RUNSQLSTM command to run an existing SQL statement held in a source member. An alternative is to use a third party tool that accepts an ad-hoc SQL request as a command parameter. There are a few of them around including my own EXCSQL (see the Extras section on my home page - see .sig below) that do this fine. It supports output (if any) to screen, report or *OUTFILE.
